Overview.

Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused primarily by Candida albicans, an opportunistic yeast that normally resides on the skin, mucous membranes, and gastrointestinal tract. It becomes pathogenic when the host’s immune defences are compromised or when the normal flora is disrupted, such as with antibiotic use or immunosuppression. Candidiasis can be superficial—affecting the mouth (oral thrush), skin, or genitals—or invasive, potentially leading to life-threatening bloodstream infections, especially in hospitalised or immunocompromised individuals.

The assay is an in vitro PCR reaction assay for the qualitative determination of Candidiasis in human samples, such as vafinal and cervical swabs, based on the hydrolysis probe detection method for Candidiasis DNA with a highly sensitive one-step qPCR kit.
