Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) PCR Detection Kit

Zena Max – Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) PCR Detection Kit CE-IVD

Overview.

Varicella-zoster virus (VZV), also known as human herpesvirus 3, is a ubiquitous human alphaherpesvirus with no animal reservoir; its main targets are T lymphocytes, epithelial cells and ganglia1. After primary VZV infection, which causes varicella (chicken pox, a common childhood illness associated with fever and a generalised pruritic rash), VZV establishes latency in cells of the dorsal root ganglia2. As cellular immunity to VZV wanes with advancing age or in immunocompromised individuals, VZV reactivates to cause herpes zoster (shingles)3, which is a localised, painful vesicular rash involving one or adjacent dermatomes4.

  • Easy to use One step Real-Time PCR Technology
  • Compatible with most commonly used RT-PCR machines
  • Specificity of up to 100% and Sensitive down to 10 copies per reaction

Product Details:

Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) PCR Kit

The assay is an in vitro RT-qPCR detection kit for the qualitative determination of Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in human samples. It is based on the hydrolysis probe detection method and is a highly sensitive one step qPCR kit. Specimens may include tissues, vesicular fluid, maculopapular lesions, or crusts from lesions.

Quality:

All Advanced Molecular Diagnostics products are manufactured in-house under the highest quality standards.

Sensitivity:

The Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) RT-qPCR Detection Kit is highly sensitive and can detect a minimum of 10 copies per reaction as validated by our in-house methods.

Specificity:

The Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) RT-qPCR Detection Kit is highly specific for VZV RNA as validated by our in-house methods.

Sample Collection:

The sample for AMD Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) RT-qPCR detection Kit should be collected via human samples such as The CDC recommended specimen types, which are: tissues, vesicular fluid, maculopapular lesions, or crusts from lesions. Swab the lesion vigorously, to ensure adequate viral DNA is collected. Both dry swabs and swabs placed in viral transport media (VTM) can be used and any other sample types used must be validated in-house prior to use at the risk of false negatives.
