St Louis Encephalitis Virus (SLEV) PCR Detection Kit
St Louis Encephalitis Virus (SLEV) PCR Detection Kit
Overview.
St. Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus that causes St. Louis encephalitis, a neurological disease primarily affecting humans. SLEV is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes, which acquire the virus from birds serving as reservoir hosts. Most SLEV infections are asymptomatic or result in mild, flu-like symptoms, such as fever, headache, and fatigue. However, in severe cases, particularly in older adults or immunocompromised individuals, the virus can cause encephalitis, characterised by high fever, neck stiffness, confusion, seizures, and, in some cases, coma or death.
- Easy to use One one-step Real-Time PCR Technology
- Compatible with most commonly used PCR machines
- Specificity of up to 100% and sensitivity down to 10 copies per reaction
