Rubella PCR Detection Kit

Overview.

Rubella, also known as German Measles, is a contagious disease-causing virus, but this virus is different to the measles virus. To healthy the population healthy, Rubella will display itself as a mild fever, malaise and often a rash; this is a relatively benign infection. However, those pregnant women facing a rubella infection, especially in the first 10 weeks, have a risk of miscarriage, foetal death or severe birth defects known as congenital rubella syndrome. Humans are currently the only known carriers of rubella. The virus is transmitted via aerosolised particles from the respiratory tract of an infected individual. Those who contract the virus are contagious for approximately 1 week before the rash appears and up to one week after the rash disappears.
Since the introduction of the Measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, Rubella has become rare worldwide. Babies born to mothers who have been vaccinated or are already immune are protected from Rubella for 6 to 8 months after birth.

Product Details:

Rubella Kit

The assay is an in vitro qPCR detection kit for the qualitative determination of Rubella in human samples. It is based on the hydrolysis probe detection method and is a highly sensitive one-step qPCR kit. Specimens may include nasopharyngeal, throat swabs, and urine specimens.

Quality:

All Advanced Molecular Diagnostics products are manufactured in-house under the highest quality standards.

Sensitivity:

The Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Rubella RT-qPCR Detection Kit is highly sensitive and can detect a minimum of 10 copies per reaction, as validated by our in-house methods.

Specificity:

The Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Rubella qPCR Detection Kit is highly specific for Rubella DNA, as validated by our in-house methods.

Sample Collection:

The sample for the AMD Rubella qPCR detection Kit should be collected via human samples such as nasopharyngeal, throat swabs, and urine specimens. Detection of measles DNA is most successful when specimens are collected on the first day of rash through the 3 days following the onset of rash.
